How it works

Everything is computed right in your browser. There is no account, no server crunching your data, and nothing to install. Type a date, get your page, download the image.

Where the data comes from

• Historical events, births and deaths come fromWikipedia's "On this day" feed, available under theCC BY-SA license.
• The #1 song is the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart in force the week of your birth (the chart launched on August 4, 1958).
• World population figures are linear interpolations of United Nations estimates.
• Moon phases and the Chinese calendar are computed with standard astronomical algorithms (Jean Meeus), including the real lunar new year cutoff.
• Films, birthstones, flowers and generations come from public, factual reference lists.

The newspaper you see is an original design filled with real facts — not a scan of any actual publication. Body counts of heartbeats, breaths and meals are back-of-the-envelope estimates, and proudly so.
